New Istana Negara at Jalan Duta
The Malaysian government is building a new palace Istana Negara in Jalan Duta. This new palace will replace the existing Istana Negara that has been used as palace since 1928. Since this is the first time that the Malaysian government building a new palace they have put more emphasis in the design and architectural.
The new Istana Negara complex when finished will have a floor area of 75,000 sq metres, excluding the parking area, and will be divided into four wings. The new complex will comprise the palace building, supporting buildings, housing for palace staff, police, security office, mini army camp and a double-storey entrance from Jalan Duta and a parking area.
It is due to complete by February 2011.
Istana Negara During Construction Time
It was reported that the final cost to build the palace is at RM812 mil and Maya Maju Sdn Bhd has been appointed as the main contractor with the contract worth almost RM650 mil, while the building of an elevated highway to the main entrance of the palace is done by Ahmad Zaki Sdn Bhd at about RM130 mil.
There will be lots of architectural lighting and dimming system for the palace building. With new design to reflect Islamic and Malay architectural design the will be different lighting fixture interior and exterior. The design will have a good dimming system to create the moods and energy savings. The proposed dimming is to be centralized and control by 10 button control panel a different location.
It will be interesting to see the effect once the building is completed.
