Eastin Hotel Penang Upgraded Ballroom Audio Visual System

Eastin Hotel Penang located at Queensbay undergone a full upgrading work to the hotel public area and all guess room and it include upgrading the Audio Visual System at the Ballroom and All Function Rooms.

For this project Artistic Controls has been engaged to provide AV Consultancy to check the current AV equipment and to design and recommend to upgrade Lighting and Audio equipment to suite the current and future need of the hotel events.

Artistic Controls to provide system design and to oversee the installation and ensure that it was executed to the highest standard, then calibrate and program all audio and lighting equipmentof the new system.

The Solution

The main challenge in designing the system is that the hotel has been purchasing different set of AV equipment as and when needed in the past year. This has left many equipment that still can be used. In this case they have a number of workable equipment that need to be integrated with the new AV system.

After visiting the site a number of times and list down all AV equipment we begin to construct the ballroom layout drawing and began short listing the type and number of the equipment needed.

It was immediately apparent that the most important is new projector system in for Ballroom. Another crucial component of the installed system was a digital signal processing (DSP) device that would help maximize the performance of the loudspeakers.

• Scope of work :
• To provide new Projector with Projector Screen
• To design and specify a sound and light system to the ballroom and all function rooms.
• To dismantle existing audio equipment in the ballroom and meeting room and rectified and tested working before reinstalled back in the new location.
• To provide new Digital Mixer, Programmable Lighting Console, wireless microphone system with Digital Matrix Processor DSP and LED spotlight.
• To provide new AV Matrix Switcher and link all functions room to the ballroom control room for the AV feed.
• To provide new High Performance 2-Way Coaxial Ceiling Speaker at Ballroom and PreFunction Area
• New Tie Line Panel to link PreFunction Area to the Control Room

After presenting the idea to the project team and the hotel owner we managed to fine tune the design and equipment list within the budget allowed in their overall upgrading project cost.

The Upgraded AV System

The hotel ballroom is now equipment with Yamaha TF-5 as Digital Audio Mixer and Yamaha Digital Matrix Processor. All the high performance ceiling speaker is powered by Yamaha Commercial series speaker.

For the stage lighting a Zero 88 Jester ML24 Programmable Lighting Console was supplied and installed. All spotlights is consist of zoom profile, Fresnel and LED Par.

The projection system is by Panasonic WUXGA 6500 Ansi Lumen Projector. The important aspect in the projection system installation is the Extron DXP 88 HDMI 8×8 as Matrix Switcher. It allow any of the HDMI input panel located at different location of the ballroom to any output of the projection display. Also so of the AV signal is send to the 3 main Meeting Rooms and waiting room a level below. All the HDMI signal is send via HDMI extenders over long distance using twisted pair transmitters and receivers over CAT cable.

A Panasonic Full HD Integrated CMOS color camera with Pan/Tilt was installed to provide the Live Feed. This is good during the wedding function and D innings.

All Meeting Rooms and Boardrooms is now equipment with new AV Cabling, speakers and LCD Projector. New HDMI and VGA panel was installed.
